The Golden Rule of interpretation is a principal of statutory interpretation used by courts to resolve ambiguity in legal provisions. It is a modification of the Literal Rule & is applied to avoid absurd, unjust, or unreasonable results that may arise from a strict literal interpretation.

→The Golden Rule of interpretation is a judicial tool that allows courts to depart from the literal meaning of statutory words only when such meaning leads to absurdity, inconsistency or injustice.
